A Floral Farewell
I think it’s fair to say that these days have been trying and I hope everyone is finding ways to stay positive. We recently had our shelter-in-place put into action by our local authorities and unfortunately, that deemed a few of my usual stomping grounds as non-essential. As a last hurrah, I stopped by my local floral wholesaler and loaded up with some goodies before they closed up shop for the indefinite future. With arms full of bold blooms and trailing jasmine, I knew I wanted to share this little bit of floral joy with friends. But before that, I wanted to create a little floral installation at home before sending them on their merry way. Hope this brings a little beauty to your day.

STEPS
For this installation, I created unique arrangements for each vessel. The different sizes, shapes, and materiality of each vase creates a unique grouping. I then created arrangements that scaled to each particular vessel.
A few things to note:
The larger fan palm is balanced with a larger grouping of the dendrobium orchids.
The sculptural aspect of the face vase is paired with the simplicity of wild greens that frame the face like a flowing mane of hair.
Smaller bud vases with the same floral mix help create a natural wildness to the installation.
The dendrobium orchids have a great shelf life as long as the stems are submerged in water. Make sure you change the water out every day or so.
The budded jasmine is a beautiful vine that I like to incorporate because it adds a nice drape to any arrangement and as the days pass, the buds will eventually open and produce a sweet scent that perfumes any room.
