'Bottlebrush Beauty' Florals
Bottlebrush blooms are really one of a kind and only arrive once a year during the spring and summer seasons. Once I saw these at market, I knew I wanted to create a beautiful arrangement around these bold pops of red. To balance the bottlebrush, I introduced hues of burgundy, purple, and lavender blue with the cornflower, parrot tulips, and fresh lavender. The ‘African mask’ alocasia adds a stunning structure and focal element to this arrangement. With the droop-like nature of the parrot tulips to create a natural cascade and the fresh lavender adding an abundance in floral fragrance, this seasonal beauty is a showstopper.

FLORALS + SUPPLIES
Terracotta vessel with 5” opening
1 bunch of blooming bottlebrush branches
1 bunch of lavender blooms
10 stems purple parrot tulips
1 bunch of burgundy cornflower
2 stems ‘African mask’ alocasia
STEPS
Begin with the bottlebrush branches and remove foliage on the bottom 8-10” and insert into the vessel. Allow the shape of the branches to create the overarching structure of the arrangement. Allow the red bottlebrush blooms to stand out.
Next, arrange the parrot tulips, lavender, and cornflower to create texture and shape. Parrot tulips tend to droop, so I like to work with that shape to create a beautiful cascade throughout the arrangement.
For the finishing touch, arrange the alocasia in a prominent spot of the arrangement for interest.
Fill the vase with fresh water so all stems are submerged.
