Introducing Florals & Co., a wearable line of living floral jewelry. I had the opportunity to help celebrate the opening week of the Commodore Perry Estate, Auberge Resort here in Austin, Texas with a popup floral concept and installation. The opening staff commissioned me to create floral wearables for guests and members and I wanted to do something beyond your normal corsages and boutonnières. Thus the floral jewelry concept. I wanted to balance the delicate blooms with brass hardware to create a more luxurious experience.

I decided on certain blooms that I knew would have a longer shelf life and then a few more delicate like the ranunculus, spray rose, and amaranthus. The hardier blooms included the gomphrena, blue thistle, scabiosa pod, and wax flower. I liked that these flowers would dry well and give guests and members a little token of our appreciation to take home. Initially, the plan was to create 3 or 4 different pieces. Per the Sartorial Host way, I got a little crazy and ended up creating 4 different types of jewelry and 20 different distinct floral designs. I sourced padded glass and gold boxes reminiscent of jewelry cases and lining up the different floral jewelry pieces really sells the concept. I really enjoyed seeing guests and their reactions when realizing that these ephemeral pieces would be just for the evening and gone tomorrow. Like a true shopping experience, guests would peruse the selection and make choices that complemented their attire. All in all it was a success and a fun way to stretch those creative muscles.
