'A Rose Affair' Cascading Florals

IMG_1798.jpg

Celebrating close friends should always be a rose affair! I enjoyed creating this stunning floral installation for a friend’s birthday. A beautiful ombré of hot pinks, blush, and cream roses are the showstopper for this occasion. I added pops of citrus orange in kumquats, Meyer lemons, and clementines for a contrast in texture and color. The sheer number of rose stems and citrus fruits create a natural sweet perfume that fills the space. Using standard, garden, and spray roses throughout the installation creates variation and depth to give it a more organic blend and feel. It’s safe to say, this extravagant floral cascade is unforgettable and perfect for that special occasion or person in your life. Cheers!

‘A ROSE AFFAIR’ CASCADING FLORALS

FLORALS + SUPPLIES

  • 1” mesh chicken wire

  • Command hooks

  • Wooden skewers

  • 50 stems bi-color pink roses

  • 150 stem hot pink roses

  • 2 bunches of white vanda spray roses

  • 50 stems pink floyd roses

  • 25 stems quick sand cream roses

  • 2 bunches of ‘Supernova’ spray roses

  • 12 stems hot pink David Austen roses

  • 25 stems medium pink roses

  • 2 bunches of light pink statice

  • 4 bunches of bay leaves

  • 2 bunches of magnolia leaves

  • 6 bunches of Italian ruscus

  • 3 bunches of kumquats

  • 24 meyer lemons

  • 12 clementines

STEPS

  1. Start by securing the chicken wire to a few command hooks attached to the table. Create a cascade wire structure to attach the flowers to the wire frame.

  2. Begin with a greenery base of bay leaves, magnolia leaves, and Italian ruscus.

  3. Layer in the standard roses throughout the cascade.

  4. Fill in the floral cascade with the spray roses, pink statice, and kumquat branches.

  5. Using the skewers, attach leftover rose leaves to the Meyer lemons and clementines to create the look of a freshly picked fruit branch.

  6. Place the Meyer lemons and clementines throughout the floral cascade.

  7. For the base of the cascade, you can remove the heads of the roses so they sit flat and give a more natural cascade.

  8. At the end, spritz the arrangement to hydrate the petals. As your event continues, you can replace any blooms that have turned with fresh stems.
