‘Petite Noir’ Florals

IMG_6357.JPG

The ‘Petite Noir’ may be small in stature, but bold blooms and contrast florals pack a punch in this arrangement. The story of this piece begins with the black coupe glass. The glassy black shape of this coupe is sculptural in nature and creates the perfect reservoir of water for stems to hydrate. It also allows ample room for the chicken wire cage to sit securely. Blush dahlias with apricot centers are showstoppers alone, but in number, are an incredible sight. Albeit delicate in shape, the dahlias bombastic form balances the drama of the black-footed vessel. Funky and lily pad-like leaves of geranium create a gentle trail and a large grouping of bold-fuschia gomphrena creates a statement piece for the arrangement. The final touch, swoopy stems of black scabiosa for whimsy.

‘PETITE NOIR’ Florals

FLORALS + SUPPLIES

  • Black coupe glass

  • 1” mesh chicken wire

  • Green floral tape

  • 12 stems blush dahlias

  • 1 bunch of fuschia gomphrena

  • 1 bunch of geranium

  • 2 stems of black scabiosa

STEPS

  1. Starting with the chicken wire, create a small wire cage structure that fits within the coupe glass. Expand the chicken wire within the vessel so it sits securely and just at the lip. Fill the vessel with water.

  2. Starting with the geranium leaves, create a small grouping of greenery that trails away on one side of the coupe glass.

  3. Layer in the blush dahlias throughout, arranging a few closer to the chicken wire to hide the structure and a few dahlias further away for dimension.

  4. Prep the gomphrena by removing all the leaves. Group the gomphrena together into a larger pom shape and using the floral tape, secure the stems together. Place the gomphrena grouping into the arrangement as a focal floral element.

  5. Take two stems of scabiosa with a unique curled stem and arrange them reaching away for a whimsical flair.
